Off-Site Adventures

Off-Site Adventures

Phish:Riviera Maya offers you a wide variety of incredible off-site adventures to participate in before the music begins each night. All adventures are optional (except those that are mandatory), and offered so you have the opportunity to thoroughly explore and enjoy the surrounding area!

We will provide local round-trip shuttle transportation between the resort and your adventure location, and shuttle transportation is included in the adventure price.

The adventures below are a selection of what’s available in the Yucatan Peninsula area, but not all are guaranteed every year.

Chichen Itza Tour

Chichen Itza is the capital of the ancient Maya empire. Its majestic buildings date back to 455 BC, and it’s geographically located in the middle of the beautiful Yucatan Peninsula. At this site, declared one of the Seven Wonders of the World, you can visit magnificent temples such as the Kukulkan Pyramid and the Pok ta Pok ball game court. The Pyramid of Kukulkan is the most impressive temple in Chichen Itza, renowned for the number of tombs beneath its seemingly endless 91 steps. After the tour of Chichen Itza, you can enjoy an authentic Yucatan meal (tastes like chichen!) and the beautiful Cenote Selva Maya. Don’t forget your swimsuit!

Rio Secreto

Dare to participate in a fantastic experience in one of the most incredible locations in the Riviera Maya. Enter this natural museum filled with a kaleidoscope of speleothems (gesundheit) and walk an easy 600m route amidst the thousands of stalactites and stalagmites found in this protected natural reserve. Marvel at this ancient, magical subterranean world that until now has remained unexplored and untouched for millions of years. Marvel, I said.

Morning Glory (Snorkeling)

Morning Glory takes snorkeling lovers out to enjoy a real great time at the second largest coral reef in the world. In this National Park, surrounded by outstanding rich tropical vegetation, we will take you to two beautiful reefs to explore the underwater kingdom of the tropical fish and coral. After the expedition, stay for awhile and enjoy snacks at the local beach club with your friends. Then enjoy your friends at the local snacks club with beach.

Deep Sea Fishing

Join us on a deep sea fishing excursion and hunt for sailfish, blue marlin, white marlin, wahoo and dorado right outside the Puerto Aventuras Marina in Riviera Maya, Mexico. Savor your favorite sport in paradise as you’re joined by experienced crew members who will happily guide you along the way for that special catch you’ve always dreamed of. The January season includes the fish mentioned above, so get your cameras ready and prepare for an unforgettable experience. Choose from a variety of boats starting at 31 feet and up to 48 feet. Your deep sea fishing charter includes all gear, private boat, limited drinks on board, English speaking crew and four hours fishing (trolling and drift fishing) along Riviera Maya’s stunning coastline.

Shallow Sea Fishing

Honestly, not really worth it.

Luxury Catamaran / Snorkeling

Traverse the clear blue waters of the Caribbean on the snorkeling adventure of a lifetime! You will sail from nearby Puerto Aventuras to the second largest coral reef system in the world on a luxury 65-foot catamaran. Swim among hundreds of fish species, marine turtles, whale sharks, and coral on a snorkeling adventure while a luxurious meal is prepared for you on board the boat. Enjoy a delicious lobster or New York strip steak for lunch with a full open bar (including mixed drinks, beer, margaritas, soda and purified water).

ATV Ride & Zip Lines

Ride off the beaten trail with a guided ATV tour through some of Mexico’s most beautiful wilderness. Take a 30-minute drive through the jungle to a freshwater sinkhole (also known as a cenote), where you can swim and zip line into the water. From here, you will cruise for another 45 minutes to another zip line circuit. Sail through the trees and admire the amazing wildlife around you. At the end of the journey, enjoy a lunch buffet of authentic Mexican food including grilled chicken, rice, beans, salad bar, corn chips, hot sauces and authentic Mexican napkins.

Xel Há: Natural Aquarium

Xel-Ha 2

Spend an afternoon at Xel-Há, the world’s largest natural aquarium park. Your ticket allows all-day access to the park and more than 20 activities and attractions. Snorkel with over 90 marine species, float through underground rivers and mangrove trees, cliff jump with friends or friends of friends, traverse rivers on ropes and zip lines, explore history on jungle trains or just relax with a drink on hammock island. Some park activities require an additional cost, but breakfast, lunch, and drinks are all included. You’re sure to have an amazing day exploring the Riviera Maya’s most exciting natural theme park! Also, in case you missed it a couple sentences ago: Hammock Island.

Golf Outing: The Mayakoba

Avid golfers can treat themselves to a round at the #1 golf course outside of the U.S. (Condé Nast Traveler 2011). The gorgeous Mayakoba sits on the Caribbean with gorgeous views of the water, and features lush mangroves and perfectly curated holes. (As featured on the DVD, “Perfectly Curated Holes Vol. 2.”)

Your golf outing will be a tournament, competing with other Phish: Riviera Maya guests. We will host small competitions throughout the day including putting contests and the longest drive, with lots of exciting prizes for the winners. Start the day with a complimentary brunch at the course, then get out there and take your swings in Mexican paradise.

Tulum: A Day Trip

Tulum is simply one of the most beautiful towns on earth, featuring an extraordinary blend of beautiful, luxurious beaches and beachfront clubs, along with ancient Mayan ruins, which are also beautiful, in a ruined kind of way. Located just 25 minutes down the road from where Phish will perform, this taste of paradise is must-see territory for all visitors to the Riviera Maya.

You can start at the Mayan temples of Tulum, built over 600 years ago and remarkably well-preserved to this day, much like my aunt Susan. Tour guides are available at the entrance to the ruins area. Or, kick things off at one of many amazing beach clubs and palapas, where you can relax on fine white sands and enjoy some drinks or take a dip in the Caribbean. While you’re there, enjoy lunch at one of Tulum’s delicious local restaurants or tropical shacks.

Jungle Maya Park

Join us for the ultimate Jungle Maya tour and discover the amazing “Sistema Sac-Actun,” the world’s longest underground river! (Fun fact: “Sistema Sac-Actun” is Mayan for “Sister Act 2.”)

You won’t want to miss the chance to visit this historic natural landmark and participate in thrilling local activities – snorkel in the Nohoch Nah Chiich cavern, explore the rainforest on an all-terrain Mercedes Benz Unimog, swim in cenotes and even fly over the jungle on exciting zip lines!

Join us on a visit to the archaeological site of Ek-Balam, an ancient Mayan city whose name translates to ‘Bright Star Jaguar.’

You will be accompanied by an English-speaking guide in Ek-Balam, and allowed additional free time to explore. There will also be a Ancient Macedonian-speaking guide, whom you are free to ignore. After your guided visit, enjoy a refreshing swim in a sacred cenote (fresh water sinkhole) featuring beautiful natural rock formations, and end your day by sharing stories and a delicious homemade Mayan lunch with new friends in cozy outdoor surroundings.
